A interview series where we sit one-to-one with creatives exclusively and talk through their stories, goals, hardships, joys and origins.
HENGE
On a misted evening in Bristol, something extraordinary unfolded within the walls of the Trinity Centre. The acclaimed intergalactic ensemble known as HENGE made their terrestrial descent, transforming the historic venue into a fully operational spacecraft. Straight from another dimension, HENGE are here to save humanity with Cosmic Dross. As seriousness levels on Earth reach dangerous peaks, their mission is simple: raise smiles, restore playfulness, and groove the planet back into harmony.
POCKET SUN
Formed in Bristol, the band orbits around Tratt’s kaleidoscopic vision, which is shaped as much by visual art as it is by sound. Her background in ‘70s-style animation bleeds into their aesthetic, giving Pocket Sun performances a textured, almost hand-drawn feel. There’s something deliberate in the way they arrange these sensory components, and it feels like building a memory from scratch.
ALPHA STEPPA
From Plymouth, Devon, Alpha Steppa (Ben Sprosen) is one of the most innovative voices in contemporary dub. While living in Bristol back in the late 2000's as a student, Ben started his label Steppas Records and hasn't looked back since. Now settled in France and immersed in French soundsystem culture, it felt extra special to talk with Ben before his performance at the Malcolm X Community Centre in Bristol.
STAND HIGH PATROL
After an eight-year hiatus, Stand High Patrol made their long-awaited return to Bristol on March 7th, 2025, bringing their signature “dubadub” sound to the subterranean arches of the Loco Klub. Their last appearance in the city was back in 2017, making this night a special reunion for longtime dub fans. The sound system collective was formed in Brittany, France, in 2000. This marks 25 years since their benging of their dub journey. INC FULL INTERVIEW.
GROOVE ARMADA
